Public Education

Public education in Toronto is the responsibility of the Ontario Ministry of Education and attendance is compulsory up until age 16. City schools are administered by local school boards and are divided by grade: elementary, secondary, and high school. The following documents are necessary for enrollment:

• Permanent Resident Card, Record of Landing (IMM1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292)
• birth certificate
• vaccination certificate
• any previous school records
